SOWK 4050 Introduction to Graduate Internship (1 credit)
The Introduction to Graduate Internship seminar prepares students to enter the profession of social work at a graduate level. The course provides an overview of social work values and ethics, populations served and issues that concern social workers. Through engagement in the course content, students will complete a readiness for field assessment, including their personal and professional motivations to join the profession and serve diverse communities. Students will be exposed to the social work profession’s signature pedagogy, field education and the stages of experiential learning. The course will also help students develop learning goals for field education and identify potential internship sites.
